The Hoots !Owl Applique quilt

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo The Hoots! amy bradley designs ` Link to website or photo www.amybradleydesigns.com/hoqupa.html What are you most proud of? How cute they all look together - even if they aren't all perfect (one's beak is actually upsde down -LOL ) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be patient - the appliques can be a little complex to deal with (tracing them out - and being sure they face the correct way when using the heat 'n bond fusible) - especially if you haven't done applique work before...but read the directions fully before beginning..and then, as always..have fun!

What you will need

  • cotton fabrics
  • The Hoots! kit - for the templates
  • polyester low loft batting
  • heat 'n bond lite - to hold the appliques
  • muslin and embroidery floss for the tag
  • binding
  • sewing supplies & tools.

Q&A with Deena

wimwim asked:
This is such a cheerful quilt. "Who" would notice ones beak..Very nice.
Deena answered:
thanks
honeybee design asked:
I love owls...I need to make this for an upcoming baby shower.
Deena answered:
there is also one specifically designed for baby - with pics of "people whoo love baby" inthe tummys of the owls - I would suggest it
Deniseaumiller asked:
Did you use the little buttons for eyes as in the instructions, or did you use black fabric applique? I'm concerned about 32 little buttons on a baby quilt.
Deena answered:
no- I did not use buttons, I just used a fabric marker
