Texas A&M Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The narrow binding. Sounds weird I know. I didn't want a thick solid color border to disrupt the continuity of color around the bands. from the cotton on the quilt top to the fleece on the quilt back. Also, I was proud of my restraint. I want to design all kinds of whimsical free flowing things when quilting but I think the simple echoing lines keep this quilt looking sporty and unisex. (I did throw a few loops in the featured band though. I love free motion! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Same as always. Start with a plan but then kind of let things develop as they will. As structured as this might look, I dismantled those blocks at least twice and had to rip a 5 foot seem all the way across the quilt when I decided I wanted to use batting along with the fleece in the quilt sandwich. I was going to let the fleece serve a dual function as both backing and batting but it just didn't feel snuggly enough. I LOVE the weight and snuggly yumminess of it now.

What you will need
