Sweetly Baked

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Have to be the hand applique. I love applique! What advice would you give someone starting this project? At first I had trouble making the fabric selections but I happened on a layer cake of butterscotch and roses and it worked a treat. It's much simpler if most of the fabric is from the same line, then adding others seems easy.

What you will need

  • 100% cotton fabric and batting. Various stranded cotton for applique. Various threads including metallics for free motion quilting.

Q&A with Megan Byrne, Poet's Corner Quilts

befney asked:
Love it! Well done. May I ask how long the applique took you? wonderful to look at and a great backdrop for a market stall.
Megan Byrne, Poet's Corner Quilts answered:
The applique took 2 months of evening television! I like to stitch while watching a favourite show or listening to an audiobook! Cate said that it was very popular at the market this weekend and brought lots of customers over to buy her goods, so it was worth it!
befney asked:
Love the stacked cups most of all
Megan Byrne, Poet's Corner Quilts answered:
I think the stacked cups would make a great centre for a table runner. Why not have a go!
K Lee 2Strings asked:
Such a sweet tea party quilt! Love the details everywhere. Great fabric choices, beautiful work! This took some time!
Megan Byrne, Poet's Corner Quilts answered:
Thanks. The hardest thing was finding the border fabric! Next time I'll start with the border and work my way in!
desna asked:

Megan Byrne, Poet's Corner Quilts answered:
Thanks. She does love it.
