Q&A with K Lee 2Strings

Cat Sultan asked:
I am taking you up on your invitation here! I would say your first suggestion is the best idea. (Subconsciously you might have thought so too since you listed it first!) I think the white squares provide an excellent opportunity for design in the quilting phase of things, and then you could even do some of those neat motifs like flowers or animals, just in quilting instead of applique. Every quilt or fabric I see with flipflops on them looks silly. I prefer them for footwear not decor, but I now I may be overstepping my bounds of opinion-giving. I think the patchwork is very successful as it is. I can't wait to see how you quilt it! Hope I helped in your decision-making process.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you so much! You and my husband share the same opinion.
NanaJeanFL asked:
I LOVE this 2strings! The way the blocks extend into the sashing is fantastic - never heard of a divided 4 patch but now I'm going to have to do one. As for finishing - I vote for an overall meandering FMQ - something that won't take away from the blocks and construction itself. But then again I'm still pretty much a newbie. Just make sure that whatever you decide makes you happy :D
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you. I really like the effect of this pattern, too. It was quick to make and easy - no triangles! I love getting your opinions. Add nothing seems be the consensus today.
angie41179 asked:
I like it the way it is. But i am pretty much a traditional quilter and i really like the idea of the open space to put a pretty quilting design in. But i love the quilt.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you! So far everyone has been of the same opinion. That must mean something.
patz in suffolk asked:
This is very pretty and I like it very much, but I do think the big squares could do with a "little something" (but then, I have to stop myself from over-gilding the lily, and often don't know when to stop!). I think, if it were mine, I might make some little clusters (perhaps three in each square?) of Suffolk Puffs (I think you may know them as Yo-Yos). I'd stitch them down to be fairly flat (a bit like the one I put on my BOM quilt). This would give a slightly 3-dimensional look, but without adding too much bulk. Just an idea ...
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you. I would never have thought of yoyos! I need to ponder this more.
gmhnQuilts asked:
Love this! Pretty sure this is the same block I used on a lap quilt recently.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Yes, you did. I think it was a wheelchair lap quilt. Love the block!
