Sugar Block 2013 set with Irish Chain

Project Description

What are you most proud of? First quilt I have machine quilted, not just stitched in the ditch! I love how the soft silver of the Irish chain pulls it all together. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go for it!

Q&A with Rita Sannar

Jcrow54 asked:
I'm planning on using my Sugar Block BOMs to mae the Irish Chain also. I'm glad I was able to see yours. Now I know how pretty it'll look. Very beautiful!
Rita Sannar answered:
Thanks. I'm so glad Amy shared this option. I had been thinking of various settings, but when I saw this, I knew it was meant to be. Hint: when you piece the Irish chain blocks, chain piece them. It goes amazingly fast. I worked on one or two blocks at a time for the first twelve and would add them to my quilt layout to keep me excited and motivated. Then the chain piecing idea hit me, and I chained the last twelve blocks. Amazingly fast!
KellyKwilts asked:
Love it. It's a great setting isn't it?
Rita Sannar answered:
Yes it is!
Jmsham3 asked:
I love it, very nice job on it all! I too was going to use this for my 2013 Sugar Block of the Month. I also when I saw that she did this for BOM, I signed up. How big is your quilt?
Rita Sannar answered:
Thanks. Finished size is 84 1/2 x 84 1/2. There are seven rows of seven blocks in each row. You need 25 Sugar Blocks. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I was away visiting grandchildren. You will love your finished quilt.
inger.aberg asked:
Its absolutely LOVELY have you used orginally sizes? from Amys pattern and combined them?
Rita Sannar answered:
Thanks. Yes, I used all original sizes and combined them. It works out perfectly.
