What are you most proud of?
The whimsical nature of the piece..
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Use the colours you like and throw in something wild.
What you will need
I used an embroidery design from Urban Threads and set it off centre. I then used the stitches I liked most from my stitch bible and started to play. This will be used in my basement to cover an electrical panel and will be hung from a piece of driftwood. Because I wanted it to have more structure I used fusible fleece and timtex to quilt the piece. I am really pleased with the result.

Beautiful work....love the way your background fabric and thread colours complement each other.
Thanks. I pulled all my threads and auditioned them on the fabric - some of them really pop and others seem to fade, over all it is good.

What a great idea to incorporate machine embroidery into a Stupendous Stitching piece. I love the result!
Hey thanks Carol - you were the inspiration !! I really never knew what to do with all the stitches on my sewing machine until I took your class. I love it too !
This is really lovely. Did you quilt through the Timtex? The Timtex I have is very thick.
Yes I used a varigated Marathon embroidery thread - I decided to use a wild coloured one and then stitched through all the layers. I changed my needle to a 16 and it was no problem at all.
