Project

Stupendous Stitching Purse

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am proud of using up the rest of the purple Kona cotton leftover from another project. I didn't have enough leftover purple Kona cotton, so I improvised and added 2 different Batik cottons on the exteior and interior. I used machine embroidered grasshopper to decorate a little purple coin purse that attaches to the interior of the larger purse with sewn-in velcro strips. 4 pockets were added to the interior using the 2 Batik cottons. The machine decorative stitching is fast, and the couching with rat tail cording, and ribbons are fun. Hand embroidery techniques are new skills I learned in Carol's class and the texture looks terrific against the deep purple. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take the Stupendous Stitching class--you will never look at a hunk of cloth the same ever again! The Stupendous Stitching class is the best class I've ever taken. I've been a serious sewer for years, but was so conservative in my sewing style. I always played it safe, and I ALWAYS followed the rules. Imagine my surprise to learn so many new skills in just one online course. And gasp . . . I'm experimenting and have no rules (no obstacles) in my way, thanks to Carol. She's more than just a great smile . . . she's a great teacher. So glad I took this class.
