Strip rag quilt for baby girl

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My first ever quilt and I love the colors. I've made five more rag quilts since. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This was pretty simple to do, but I would make it in flannel instead of cotton because it would be softer for an infant.

What you will need

  • Jelly Roll. coordinating fabric and batting

Dixie Krystal asked:
This is a very simple yet adorable quilt. I think as a beginner quilter I might be able to master this. How do I get the pattern?
kdcandy@yahoo.com answered:
I used a jelly roll and coordinating fabric I just layed out the strips until I liked the it. I cut white flannel strips slightly thinner than the 2 1/2 inch jelly roll strips and laid on jelly roll strip wrong side up, put the flannel strip down the center then lay another jelly stips right side up. This makes a long sandwich. After I got a couple of sandwiches pinned together I put them together back to back and sewed them together using a generous 1/4 inch seam. You clip those seams after you sew all the sandwiches together. I sewed down each edge of each side of the sandwich 1/2 inch in to hold the batting (flannel) in place. When you sew the 1/4 inch seam, you can't really see the sewing that holds down the batting.
