Straight Sew and Flip 1

What are you most proud of? Though you can't tell in the photo, the color combo in these fabrics is really pretty--the blues are actually deep teal, and it looks very pretty with the gold tones...the light in my room wasn't good and the colors aren't true. What advice would you give someone starting this project? "Rough cutting the seam lines"; I will get better at it, but I sure understand what Allie is talking about when she talks about "insurance". I lucked out and was able to trim my block to the right size, but there were some close calls around the edges. I printed the block design on freezer paper and ironed the pieces on the fabric. I hate pinning things first...always have done what I could to avoid that. Sometimes it works, if the cutting is very accurate. Things got easier when I actually used a rotary cutter to cut a half inch straight along the joining seam side. My rough cutting was a little crooked.
