Spring Leaves

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This started out as a cross stitched embroidered block and I outlined the leaves with hand quilting. I then machine quilted the overall quilt.

Q&A with Ladymax

Davesmom asked:
Looks great. What size is your quilt?
Ladymax answered:
This is a quilt for a premie and is only 26 x 26. It is made to allow a new mom to have something to wrap her baby in when not holding the baby against her skin.
Andi Perejda asked:
Very pretty. I'm happy that you are so enthusiastic!
Ladymax answered:
Many thanks. I have just purchased some cotton batiste and am putting together a pattern for a 40" x 40" baby quilt. I have also started using wool batting and it is much easier to stitch. I am watching for a silk batting so that I can try that also.
Andi Perejda asked:
Cotton batiste and wool should be a soft and easy to needle combination. Hobbs makes a silk batting that has some poly in it that is also very nice to hand quilt through. The pure silk battings I have run into I have NOT used because they haven't been of consistent thickness and are hard to handle. Hope your baby quilt project goes well!!
Ladymax answered:
Many thanks for your info. I will watch out for the Hobbs silk and poly. I just had a good look at my wool bating and realized that it is an inconsistent thickness. I will carefully cut what I need.
