Spring Lamb Coaster

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Spring Lambs Mug Rug Link to website or photo www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/spring-lambs-mug-rug/44391 What are you most proud of? This is such a pretty little coaster - it is simple to put together, all done by hand (except attaching the binding). It is a lovely little project when you have a spare hour. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Use felt - it is easy to stitch and won't fray. Also I stitched the lamb in place before adding the blanket. The embroidery is a very simple chain stitch and lazy daisy stitch - but you could use any stitches you like - the more lop-sided they are the more 'rustic country' the coaster will look. And with all Patchsmith projects - have fun!

What you will need

  • 4.5" square of fabric
  • scraps of white and black felt and embroidery cotton.

Q&A with The Patchsmith

ZAZU Embroidery asked:
Cute :) I agree with felt use. I use felt for my embroidery projects and I love it!
The Patchsmith answered:
Felt is brilliant - I also find it good when I don't want the background to show through or when tackling small pieces of applique. Glad you like the little coaster - it was really quick to do. (You made me giggle with your 'fun/fan' comments below.)

Very cute. Think I'll make one. Thanks for the inspiration. PS I love the lopsided="rustic country" comment! ;O)
The Patchsmith answered:
Thank you. The "rustic country" look is so forgiving of all of our lopsided stitches and unmatched seams!
