Split 9 patch

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Splitin' 9 Patch Link to website or photo www.sew-blessed.biz What are you most proud of? She loves it. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Play with fabrics you like. This is a fairly easy pattern and once you start the tuffest thing is turning the block. One other thing I'll mention is that I did this as in large 3 large panels and quilted each panel then took the center panel and attached the left side then the right. Then I added the borders once side at a time and quilted them. Since I have a difficult time with the weight of large pieces, this way I find allows me to quilt them myself and I don't have to use sashing on the front or back. I don't do any quilting in the 2 inches on each side of each panel so that I can sew them together. then once the panels are connected I go back and quilt in those few inches. Sounds like a lot of work I know but it makes my hands much happier.

What you will need

  • 56"x86" traditional piecing Fabric requirements: main color print 3 yds. color 2 (white) 1 3/4 yds. Color A (red) 1 1/2 yds Backing 5 yds. if you are using a different fabric for the border than used in the center you'll need 3 - 3.5 yds. depending on how large you want the border.

She's asking for more already. Actually I signed up for the Mystery quilt 2013 class and it's for her too so I guess she'll get what she's asking for. Just call me a soft touch.
