Spiral Bargello

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Spiral Burst Bargello Quilt Pattern Link to website or photo www.clotilde.com/detail.html?prod_id=16515 What are you most proud of? I did it! What advice would you give someone starting this project? The pattern instructions assumes that you have experience with the strip piece method and the making of tubes. It does not address how to do these 2 techniques. I found it beneficial that I had made a Scrappy Bargello where I got experience with these 2 techniques. Also before working with this pattern, it is suggested that a review of ways to prevent bowing when making strips be done. I wasted a lot of material until I learned to reduce/eliminate bowing.

What you will need

  • 24 different cotton fabrics (many were from my scrap pile)
  • rotary cutter
  • seam ripper

Q&A with Rita C

Linda74Sews asked:
Simply gorgeous!. I don't quilt, but I can tell this was an incredible amount of work. How long did it take you to make?
Rita C answered:
Thank you. I worked on it off and on with vacations and other quilt projects in between. If I worked on it continously (as I did for the last half) it would take me approximately 2 weeks at 2 - 4 hours a day. I am not very fast.
Pamillia asked:
Wonderful & very well done. Your colors & fabrics are perfect. Please show it to us when it is finished. Do you have any ideas how you are going to quilt this piece? Thank you so very much for sharing.
Rita C answered:
Thank you. I will probably use stipples. I will definitely post the finished project.

Thank you. It is still the one that I am most proud of. It is quite easy to make, but looks complicated. Try it :)
