Serengeti

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Serengeti by Toni Whitney Link to website or photo www.bigforkbaycottonco.com What are you most proud of? All in all, I think this is the piece of work I am most proud of ever, in all my (many) years of sewing. The choice of fabrics in particular. I didn't send for the kit from the US due to the high postage to the UK and import duty so chose my own fabrics. It took some time and lots of bolts of fabric being auditioned on a table in the fabric shop! I chose Nottcutt's Stonehenge fabrics, Robert Kaufmann's Fusions and Jenny Beyer palette. There are about 70 pieces to be cut, placed and stitched. I just love the way his nose looks like velvet and seems so 3D you could stroke it..... What advice would you give someone starting this project? Mark all your pieces and take your time......

What you will need

  • 100% cotton
  • steam-a-seam
  • batting

Q&A with SueBrowne

boochura asked:
The name of this pattern is Serengeti. Took me awhile to find it, but I persisted as I loved yours so much. Fine job!
SueBrowne answered:
Thank you Boochura, a genuine mistake. Didn't mean to mislead anyone or take away credit from the designer. Have fun, I look forward to seeing your version.
muthak asked:
all your animals are beautiful, you should be proud. I recently bought the tiger pattern to try with my own choice of fabrics, now just need the courage to start it
SueBrowne answered:
Oh, the tiger pattern is amazing, I keep thinking I must make it again!!
