Project

Self portrait

What are you most proud of? I think the shading on the face and hands works well. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I initially had trouble staying on the black line when sewing the top fabric. It might be a good idea to have a practice run on another piece of fabric first. Also, if you are using a person's photo, choose a photo that has some light value changes or shading to prevent a flat look on the finished piece.

Lola Jenkins asked:
This is an excellent portrait. Boy you also did a fantastic job. The coloring and shading for wonderful. The hat adds so much to this piece. The quilting in the hat and the background plus the glasses really give this piece personality. One beautiful piece of thread art. WOW.
