Second Project

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I love learning new skills. Thank you, Laura! What advice would you give someone starting this project? I made a BIG mistake with this one. I trimmed the block too close to the flowers and leaves, which meant that the binding didn't look as good as it might have. Don't use scissors when you are tired!

What you will need

  • Hand dyed cotton for background
  • cotton
  • Coton Perle
  • wool batting

Doreen Bone asked:
It's ...We wouldn't have known about your 'mistake'......Doreen
Teddymaker answered:
I could have kicked myself - but thought I might do worse damage by taking the borders off. Many thanks
Melchiorreo asked:
Very very pretty! How long did your project take?????
Teddymaker answered:
The project took a day to complete plus the time it took to hand dye the background fabric. I sketched out the design on paper first. Cutting out and fusing the fabric pieces didn't take long. The hand stitching took about 3 hours.
KatieQ asked:
This is a wonderful project. I love your hand dyed background fabric. I think the border looks great. I never would have guessed it was not exactly as you planned.
Teddymaker answered:
Thank you, Katie!
