Q&A with Sandra in CA

Dana5169 asked:
is this what they call a Jelly roll race?
Sandra in CA answered:
Yes, but I didn't do it with anyone else so not really a race, but this is the quilt that would be made in a Jelly Roll race. I'm a matchy-matchy type of quilter so it is good for me to be stretched in not matching and simply sewing whatever come next to the prior one and not worrying if it matched or would match when it was sewn to the next one.
Barbara Webster asked:
Did you put it together in one long strip, then decide the size and cut? Or did you make the strips the width you wanted and sews rows until it was the desired size?
Sandra in CA answered:
You sew it in 1 one strip, then sew the ends together until they meet, then sew those ends together till they meet, and so on until it ends up being the size where you can't do it anymore.
titch asked:
THIS IS SO COOL , AND WELL DONE FOR HELPING OTHERS, I TEND TO SELL WHAT I MAKE AT MY CHURCH AND THE MONEY FEEDS ORPHANS AND WIDOWS .
Sandra in CA answered:
hat is a great idea. I'm not into marketing although I may make one for a silent auction for the yearbook fundraiser at my son's school.
tracey_lee404959 asked:
hi, all im new here and wow you are some very clever people, ive seen one of these made, but it was made of selvage strips, very different thats for sure.
Sandra in CA answered:
I've seen bags made from the selvage strips, but not quilts. I cut off and save the selvages to use in my garden to tie up my tomato plants with (my mother taught me that trick).
3patch asked:
What is the whole size?
Sandra in CA answered:
It is about 52" X 62". This was a scrap one so not all of the strip were 42" long.
