Scattered squares

What are you most proud of? That I chose the colours. I am insanely insecure about colour choice and so usually pick all the fabrics in the same range to make a quilt (or take my hubby or sister along as my advisers). There was only 4 fabrics plus the solid white, so I picked outside of my comfort zone to stop me choosing my normal murky more traditional fabrics. Originally I had chosen a yellow/orange almost solid that matched the yellow in the prints exactly but when it was cut into squares and on my design wall I hated it - too strong. I honestly felt tense looking at it - toe curling, stomach knotting tense! So I took the offended colour down and replaced it with a calm inducing 1930's repro in green. Ahhhh. I liked it so much better. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just start sewing and cutting!. Try and trust yourself!

  • Mostly on sale Denyse Schmidt fabrics
  • plus a remnant of 1930's repro
  • which if it wasn't for Elizabeth's suggestion in an answer to a stash panic I was having I wouldn't have even consider it. So thank you.
