Scattered squares - Winter Cabin

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I fought hard to try to keep this quilt from looking too country. I added an asymmetrical border, but it still looked super Blah to me. I thought it was kind of cliche to add one unique square, but when I tried it I liked it anyway and just left it. The quilting is pretty dense and although it may not exactly compliment this quilt well, I tried out different ideas and learned things that I will definitely be using in the future. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have fun with it! I found it useful to walk away from it several times during the layout phase so I could look at it with fresh eyes. I also made my squares slightly larger so I would have a generous lap sized quilt.

What you will need

  • Cotton flannels and madras - all from my stash. 80/20 batting - just using up leftovers

I absolutely love this one. It is modern, but different. I like the cozy feeling, and it is amazing how the grey can feel warm! The quilting is amazing and really makes this simple quilt extra special This quilt will be a nice useable quilt that can blend in nicely with a room, but will reward the careful observer with such fine details, like the different square, the assymetrical border, and the wonderful quilting. The binding is a nice touch, too. Did I mention I really love your quilt?
Mamadoc answered:
Thank you for the feedback! As a quilter, I don't think there's anything better than another quilter enjoying the little details.
