San Antonio Valentine

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I really like how the colors came together. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find the exact shades of blue I needed, but by using Joen's 3-in-1 color tool, I was able to establish that both the sky and Spencer's shirt are shades of Cerulean blue . . . so as long as I stayed with fabric in shades of cerulean, I could go a bit darker or lighter and still preserve the overall color feeling I was looking for. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you are using a photo as a basis for color choice, you'll probably be disappointed if you try to choose and buy fabric online. Too many variables between how a fabric looks on your monitor and how it looks in real life. Take your photo to the fabric store!

Q&A with BoiseNoise

Jo in South Africa asked:
I'm really impressed by the way you used the colours of a photo of old buildings in a modern quilt. Well done. I haven't got this far in the course yet, but I feel as if I understand the point just from seeing your photo and your quilt.
BoiseNoise answered:
Thank you! This technique was really fun to try, and I know it won't be the last time I use it!
