Project

sailor's delight

What are you most proud of? when i finished piecing, it was not laying flat at all! it had too much 'slack' but i went ahead and quilted it anyway just for the heck of it. and guess what? it is now perfectly flat! it 'quilted out'. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I used satin on a couple of the black blocks (i thought it looked more festive), and it makes it look uneven b/c of the way the light shines on it. I stopped using the satin b/c it was a pain to work with and was getting burned with all the ironing that needs to be done. Also, the flat black looked better for the 3D effect i was trying to achieve.
