Q&A with Darns

Ann Petersen asked:
This is wonderful! I love your quilting and the solid colors and gray are very eye catching and modern in this piece. Beautiful job!!
Darns answered:
Thank you, Ann, for your wonderful instruction in your first Craftsy class! Your teaching style really clicked with my brain (and foot) to start me on my free motion journey.
QuiltDude asked:
This is absolutively beautiful! Your curves are perfect, as is your quilting. LOVE LOVE LOVE how the quilting is noticeable, and at the same time enhances the design of the block. Really, really wonderful, Darns. Now I want to try piecing curves!
Darns answered:
Thanks so much, Quilt Dude! Curves aren't that difficult but mine still turn out a little wonky sometimes. The squares in this block were supposed to be 6 1/2 but mine ended up 6 3/8 after trimming some of the wonky away.
sewmom204 asked:
WOW! Your quilting is so precise. It looks amazing. Great job! Can't wait to see what's next.
Darns answered:
Thank you! I think I've finally learned how to follow a marked line!
4bird2 asked:
This is stunning. The combination of color is so fresh and modern. The quilting is amazing, the pattern and process so well accomplished. Bravo Darns!!!
Darns answered:
Thanks a lot, 4bird2! I've been craving color & lots of it lately!
NanaJeanFL asked:
Fabulous! Stunning! So simple and so elegant - a perfect combination across the board: color, placement, gorgeous quilting!! Yet again, you've inspired me. I'm committing to make every effort to learn FMQ next year. Thank you Darns!!!
Darns answered:
Go for it, Jean! It may take a least a year to feel somewhat competent but it's really worth it. The hardest part now is deciding what motif to use where - I've seen so much great quilting on the blogs.
