Project

Puttin' on the X's and O's

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am proud that after a year I FINALLY finished it! Since it was a quilt for me, I kept putting it at the back of the line of the projects I had going on so I made myself shut up, sit down, and quilt away until it was done. I also like the fact that without meaning to, your eyes are drawn to the black and white squares with the actual Moda fabric acting as the background. Funny how just changing the colors a bit changes the whole look of the quilt. Another thing - I am trying to get better at machine-binding, and this time, I did the best job of it so far. I did a simple zig-zag stitch to finish the binding, but the challenge here is to keep a straight, even stitch so it looks good on both the top and bottom. It's not perfect, but I'm getting there! What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a great quilt for a beginner. Fabric choices are limited to your imagination. Jenny Doan gives such good, clear instructions that she makes you want to start right away on any project she's explaining, so go ahead, and start! Just make sure you don't keep putting it off for a year, because when you finish it in a few days, you'll be upset you didn't take a couple of days extra a year ago! LOL LOL

What you will need
