Purse as seen in Designs in Machine Emb

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Finishing it and giving it to my Daughter. The Fabric was reallllllly cheap as it was in the clearance at JoAnns and I also used a coupon, WOW What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't use as heavy of fabric because I used all but 2 sets of those plastic grommets because they would break (and they ain't cheap). or maybe you could find some metal ones

What you will need

  • I used Upholstery Fabric with Duck Cloth and 100% quilting cotton for the lining.

Q&A with djfquilts

Chrissleo asked:
This is really beautiful love the rings used for attaching the handles - did it take long?
djfquilts answered:
Thanks for the compliment, I like it too. It took 3 hoopings for each panel and there are three panels. The hardest was putting in the rings because my fabric was too thick. I had to use a hammer with a block of wood and broke several before I was done. I will make another one for me, with other fabric, of course.
Eileen Roche asked:
Awesome job! I love your fabrics!
djfquilts answered:
Thanks, I love your designs and inspirations!
Debbie Stuttgen asked:
I joiIned the class to make this purse. Where do I find the pattern? Thanks.
djfquilts answered:
It's in the January/February 2013 Designs in Machine Embroidery. It's the one with Nancy Zeiman 30 years of sewing on the cover. Hope you can still get a back issue. Just a note you need at least 1/3 yard of fabric not the 1/4 yard listed as you need to create 3 panels 5" X 19.5" and you can't get that from 55" wide fabric. Hope this helps. Donna
