Purple and Gray Herringbone Wedding Quil

Project Description

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This herringbone pattern is in half square triangles. Start by figuring out the dimensions for the quilt and how wide you want the squares to be. Mine are 9 inches. I just cut 9.5 inch squares and sewed them together on the diagonal just off center once up and once back. Then I cut down the center of the stitches and squared them off. Lay it out to get the design right. It's also easy to use these half square triangles to make a chevron quilt if you so choose.

What you will need

  • Stash dark gray
  • Kona lavender
  • Kona steel for binding
  • vintage sheet for backing

Q&A with YadyKates

LindieLee asked:
I love it! Can you tell us more? Is this made totally of half square triangles? The link above didn't take me to a tutorial as I had hoped.
YadyKates answered:
Yeah, of course. Sorry, I'll update with more information, but quickly, it is half square triangles.
