Puppy Patchwork

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The free motion quilting that I did on many of the squares, especially the stippling and the circular swirls! What advice would you give someone starting this project? For anyone just learning free motion quilting: practice, practice, practice!!

What you will need

  • Cotton print & batik fabrics

Q&A with RedDelicious

snappcindy asked:
Fantastic quilt! Fabrics used work great together. I really like the quilt pattern!
RedDelicious answered:
Thanks snappcindy! It was my very first attempt and I did it without an actual pattern. I just cut out a template of the 3 main shapes on the back of a cereal box and went from there!
nrquilter asked:
Your baby quilt is beautiful! I am working on a baby quilt also and will make my first attempt at free motion quilting on it. Thanks for sharing your quilt.
RedDelicious answered:
I was very surprised at how much easier FMQing got as I continued with this quilt. In fact, I like the blocks/areas that I did free motion MUCH more than those that I quilted with the straight walking foot. Can't wait to see your finished project!
Wendy Butler Berns asked:
oh what fun.... great fabrics.... thanks for showing some of the details... something to try next time is to stipple between the printed design... (between the dogs ) with a thread similar to the background... that way you will get your quilt texture... and still see the print.... Bravo!!!!
RedDelicious answered:
Thanks for the idea Wendy!
