practice quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? No stops and starts! I just kept quilting and changing patterns as I went along. It was really fun. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Loosen up and enjoy the process. There really is no wrong way...I just did squiggles when I was off track a bit. It still looked good!

What you will need

  • Gammill longarm machine
  • King Tut thread
  • Quilters Dream cotton batting

Q&A with Wazoo Sue

Darns asked:
What fun, Sue! Love the use of the variegated thread - I wonder how big I could do designs on my domestic machine without entirely losing my sanity- might have to play with that. Makes me want a long arm but no place to put it!
Wazoo Sue answered:
I have never found it hard to do big designs on my domestic machine. Just go with the flow and keep the quilt moving in one basic direction. I start at the upper right corner and work my way across and down. I did that for years before getting a longarm.
Squirleegirl asked:
I love this pattern and machine quilting!!! Colors are great and suit the quilt design wonderfully. Is this your own quilt design, did it come with the class, or is there a place where I can purchase the pattern??? I would love to know.
Wazoo Sue answered:
it is the disappearing 9 patch. Look online for free instructions.
JBlixt asked:
I love how this background design works enlarged as a all over pattern. Great job - I find your work really inspirational.
Wazoo Sue answered:
Thank you very much. Your kind words make me want to get even better!
jobeard@onlinemac.com asked:
Amazing, really good work!
Wazoo Sue answered:
thanks
SusanLoretta asked:
Really nice work---pretty, smooth, flowing designs, which is half the battle. Do you use a DSM or long-arm?
Wazoo Sue answered:
