What are you most proud of? The detail and my quilting. I've never quilted in this style before. I also love the back. My fabric wasn't wide enough to make it in one piece so to break it up I made another strip of 2" circles to match the border and put it 2/3 up. This was perfect as that was the exact width of the fabric.I made this as a 'Going away to University' present for my daughter and included 'memory' fabrics and fabrics handed down from my Mum and Granny. She loves it.I also made a bag to protect it and when the quilt is being used it could be a laundry bag. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Practice the porthole first on scrap. It's reverse applique and pretty easy once you figure it out. Also, although I bought my cream cotton from the same shop and it was the same type, you can see the slight colour difference on some of the squares. Do yourself a favour and if you can, buy it all at the same time to avoid that.
