Pinwheel tablemats

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My points actually match (well, for the most part...). By the third set of table mats I was getting more accurate and also faster. I also managed to stitch mostly in the ditch for the quilting (apart from a few small slips). What advice would you give someone starting this project? It was great to be able to do the blocks while having the course video playing at the same time - I watched the course through twice before attempting the blocks myself, but by the second set I was off on my own. Another tip would be to start with batiks that are double sided - that way you don't end up "miss-sewing" the wrong sides together. And lastly, as I always manage to pull and stretch my blocks, I starched the Tilda blocks before I took the paper off the back - this helped a lot with accuracy.

What you will need

  • I used scraps of quilt fabric and a few new fat quarters.

What wonderful Pinwheel Polka placemats!! It looks like you had a lot of fun playing with all those different color combinations and fabric styles, too. It's great that you were also able to use some of your scraps and fat quarters - thanks for sharing!

Thanks Peggy, I loved making these blocks! Thanks so much for your excellent instructions - it made it a real joy to learn.
