Project

Peacock Strut

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Being able to keep the whole image of each peacock in the blocks. I had to fussy cut each peacock in order to do this. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take any image and cut it in straight lines to keep the entire image. Add strips to the straight edges to make the image the size you want then trim it to size before sewing together.

What you will need

  • Cotton fabric and thread

Q&A with Nana Jo 54

sistertammie asked:
Nana Jo, you say you got this from the church stash, Do you make quilts for the church? I was in with the quilting ladies from my church, but too far to travel now. We make quilts and give them to the sick ones within the congregation.
Nana Jo 54 answered:
Yes I do quilt with ladies at church. Most of the tops are made by someone at home. We get together to sandwich them and tie. Then they just wrap the backing around for the binding. If it is something special that I've made,, I often take it home to bind it once it is tied. The quilts go to local shelters for homeless, abused women, patients within the congregation or whatever comes up with a need.
