Over the Rainbow

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Adjusting the pattern to make individual blades and sewing precision seams. When squared up I had only slivers. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If your machine has it use the free arm. This makes sewing the curved seams more like easing in a garment sleeve. I pinned the background fabric on top when joining the curves. For me its easier to avoid puckers instead of having to deal with it underneath as I sewed. There's no need to clip the curved seams. They press flat.

What you will need

  • Class kit polka dot fabric
  • freezer paper
  • fusible wed
  • cotton and invisible thread.

Q&A with NanaJeanFL

NanaJeanFL asked:
I'm still working on this block for my other quilt. I don't like my first effort. Since I can't "unfuse" the center and rework it I'm making another. I'm really struggling and its not because of the construction! Stay tuned :D
NanaJeanFL answered:
No the construction is easier than 2012. Its more a gentle arc by comparison. My problem lies in goofing up my plan. I didn't notice things were out of order until AFTER I fused the center :( Next I used my Dresden ruler and moved it the wrong way. Now I have 21 narrower blades in 3 colors! Agh! My fat quarter bundle is dwindling.....
desna asked:
Ooh Jean this rainbow wheel is simply superb really love it... Im getting behind again eek!
NanaJeanFL answered:
Thanks Desna. Don't fret, Looks like you've been juggling more than one project and I know you'll create a beautiful block!
DeGramma asked:
OMGosh........Jean, love, love, love this block!!! Have been looking at my fabric and trying to decide which to use.....think you have inspired me (as usual) Can I copy??? :)
NanaJeanFL answered:
Of course you can copy - copy away!! I wish I had some of your neat multi-colored patterns. I love the added pizzaz they bring. Looking forward to your block :D
Darns asked:
