Over The Rainbow 2013 BOM

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I could not have completed this quilt without the skills I learned this year. I drafted the alternate block (instead of flower basket) and used partial seaming to inset the center braid. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't assume up front whether of not you like the quilt. I had my doubts early on but in the end I'm very happy. Using a computer helps when playing around with layouts. Above all - have fun!

What you will need

  • Class kit
  • thread
  • graphing paper

Thank you brad!
Darns asked:
Love the braid! You have proven to me that all those dots can create a wonderful quilt (I had my doubts when I first saw the fabric). You did a great job picking the dots to use for the blocks!
NanaJeanFL answered:
Thanks so much Darns. I had my doubts in the beginning as well but the more I worked with the dots the more they grew on me. This class turned out to be very productive for me. The braid is something I've wanted to try for some time. Thankfully I learned partial seams or I'd never have figured out how to get it in the center!

Why thank you for such kind words Linseylou! I'm so glad you like it :D
KGapud asked:
Beautiful! I love your layout! The negative space is much more balanced. Such happy colors!
NanaJeanFL answered:
Thank you KGapud! From the very first I knew I'd be adjusting the sashing at a minimum. In the end it turned out better than I planned.
