Quilt #2! I loved this quilt on the midnight quilt show so I decided to give it a go! Things I learned: Spray baste is your friend. Hand binding looks fabulous. A label is a really nice personal touch! I got two boundless jelly rolls for this one so I had extra to do the binding and the stripe on the back. I have a lot left over, but that's okay! Now I can do another small project with it :)

Q&A with kaorte

gaze_au5184270 asked:
The requirements list of this project specify 60 x 2.5" strips and 3.5 yards of backing. Yet when you read the pattern instructions you only require 40 x 2.5" strips or am I missing something altogether??
kaorte answered:
I think it could be an error. I think they mean to say that you will make (20) 4.5" strips with the background fabric. You should have a total of 20 tubes. Each tube has two 2.5" strips from the jelly roll and one 4.5" strip of background. So that is where I think they got 60 strips.

Hi- just looking at the question above prior to ordering my fabric. Do I need just 1 jelly roll & 3.5 yards of the background? Thanks!
kaorte answered:
Yes that is correct, but be aware that a few strips in the jelly roll are he same pattern as the background fabric, so if you don't want "disappearing" triangles, get two jelly rolls. You will also need fabric for the backing.
Goddessences asked:
So...only ONE jelly roll required then? And why won't Craftsy let me order the exact uncut quantities of yardage (3.5 & 4.5 yards)?
kaorte answered:
Technically yes, I answered another question where I point out that the background pattern also appears in the jelly roll so if you want all the traingles to pop, you need a couple extra. I think craftsy gets all of their fabric as precuts, even the larger amounts, and that is why you can't order specific amounts. I don't mind having the extra :P
Goddessences asked:
Thanks. But that doesn't make sense when the pattern requires 4.5 yards of backing fabric So what yardage cuts am I supposed to order to make the quilt backing? Seren
kaorte answered:
I ordered two yardage cuts for the backing. I got a 3 yard cut and a 2 yard cut so I had more than enough. I've been using the extra to make mini quilts lol. I ordered a 4 yard cut of the background fabric. I hope this helps! Sorry it is a little confusing.
Goddessences asked:
Ok. THAnks. I'll do that. Where does it tell what colour and weight thread to use for this quilt. Thanks. Seren
kaorte answered:
I just used white aurifil 50wt in white. I think it looks nice over the whole thing :) https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/supplies/aurifil-50wt-cotton-mako-thread-1422-yard-spool/35796
