October, flying geese BOM, Boy's Quilt

What are you most proud of? This is my first attempt at "quilt as you go", after checking out a bunch of uTube demos on how to quilt as you go. I also checked out Leah Day's site of machine quilt patterns. I chose Day 266 - Sea oat flower. For my main block. I watched the video several times and then tried it. I also down loaded Melody Johnson's, (free) e-book - handbook of really free motion machine quilting designs. and chose page 14a as the patern for the center block. For the joining strip I made up my own pattern and I drew the patterns on with a sharpened bar of soap. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Enjoy the journey. The Learning is fun and is well worth th effort.

Craftsy Block of the Month 2012

with Amy Gibson

  • The sports flanelete in the flying geese pattern was given by Cowley United Church. The blue cotton material was given by my neighbor
  • Sharon Harison. It was a large window valance. The small grey print came from when my car was loaded with material
  • by a bunch of my friends when I went to Lethbridge for my check up. The thread came in that stuff as well. All materials are recycled.
