October BOM

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That in spite of taking a different construction path (by accident), I still managed to come up with a finished block. I put two triangles together, but stitched the wrong line and did not produce a square. It was either pick out all the little stitches or ,keep going. I chose to keep going but I realized I was going to have long bias edges. I put four on one side and then four on the other and stitched one diagonal seam down the middle. The good news at the end was that it was the right size and square! [This falls under the category of "Don't do what I did"] What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time! Once you get the hang of getting started, it flows fairly well. Especially if you remember the first piece faces down and all others face up.

What you will need

  • Continued with the fat quarters selected for BOM
  • using dark as background.

Q&A with Maggie Lea

Pamillia asked:
This is a real teaser, can hardly wait to see the rest of it. I haven't started mine yet, any pointers?Yours is looking really good. Thanks for sharing.
Maggie Lea answered:
Thanks. I had a really hard time starting. I kept trying to trim the piece and getting it trimmed the wrong way to stitch. Finally just glued the first piece like Amy did and then placed on the entire piece of the next fabric, stitched, pressed and then trimmed.
bearsmom asked:
Love your colors. Looking forward to seeing the entire 2 blocks.
