Nine patch with snowballs

Q&A with KootenayQuilter

Scheri Manson asked:
I love this low volume quilt. What pattern did you use.
KootenayQuilter answered:
Thank you. The pattern is a 9 patch block that alternates with a snowball block. Both blocks finish at 6". I used 2.5" squares for the nine patch and the corners of the snowball block. The block for the snowball is cut at 6.5". I made this quilt 13 blocks across and 15 in length so the finished size was 78" by 90".
Sew Ninja asked:
Stunning! I love it :)
KootenayQuilter answered:
Thank you!
innerwave asked:
Nice neutral quilt! What kind of batting did you use to get such shrinkage? Looks great and I love the fact that it is a relatively easy pattern. It looks huge. Thanks a lot for sharing.
KootenayQuilter answered:
Thank you, the quilt was made to fit a queen sized bed. I use Warm Company, Warm and Natural cotton batting in all my quilts and I don't prewash my fabrics any more. I used to wash my fabrics but if I use them with precuts then some fabric has shrunk and some will shrink, so I leave them all the same. If I have fabric I think will bleed I just test a small piece but I rarely have bought fabrics that bleed.
