Had some flannel charm squares left over from another project. I used them to practice the box within a box (not sure that's what it is called, but it is in Angela Walters' book). You can actually see the pattern better on the second picture, which shows the back. I tried to do this without binding, just by sewing it right sides together and turning out through a small opening. That was fine for the big motifs, but those pebbles were HARD to do without any batting or backing to hold onto. Next time I will not use that method for something this small. The flannel is thick, and even using pebbles to flatten the edges, it doesn't lay very flat. Not sure if this is going to be a mug rug, potholder, or mat to set a vase of flowers on.
