Nesting Box

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of being able to use the free motion foot a bit better. I have never made a quilt so I'm still working at getting even stitches and moving the fabric throughout the piece. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I tried piecing some fusible fleece onto the piece and I discovered that didn't work well for me. It got bunched up under the fabric, I didn't realize it, my pillow got rather lumpy. darn. I will always use just one piece of fleece. I also would make a piece that when finished would work with a standard pillow form.

What you will need

  • Needed: 4 different pieces of cloth
  • varying threads and assorted fibers
  • seam ripper
  • fusible fleece
  • felt backing

Q&A with 4bird2

mimis quilts asked:
forgot to ask what size it is?
4bird2 answered:
Hi Mimis quilts, This pillow is about 19x19. There are pillow forms that are 20x20 and 18x18, It could fit better.
Carol Ann Waugh asked:
You are amazing. I can't believe you created your project so quickly! The course just launched a few days ago. I love your fabric choices and all the texture!
4bird2 answered:
I got started and couldn't stop. Reminds me of the magic of batiking. I added quite a bit more quilting , the color in the beige is better. It's quite soft, great feel.
Barbara Hughes asked:

Ana Maria A asked:
Love your color combination, it really stands out. How did you do the back, did you put a zipper in it or does it overlap?
4bird2 answered:
This pillow overlaps. I like the method but sometimes a zipper or button closure keeps the back together a bit better.
Shoestring asked:
Very beautiful and modern. Mind if I ask what kind of machine you have, and how many decorative stitches? These pillows are so cool.
4bird2 answered:
I have a Husquvarna "Ruby." She has quite a few decorative stitches, this is the best gift I've ever had. What do you sew on?
