My first quilt!

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Disappearing Nine Patch Link to website or photo www.psiquilt.com/2009/03/disappearing-9-patch-tutorial-super.html What are you most proud of? That I had enough remnants and scraps on hand to be able to make borders that matched the charm squares What advice would you give someone starting this project? Dont cut your backing in half! I folded mine one too many times when I went to rotary cut it...so it looks a little weird now all sewn together. But hey, things don't have to be perfect to look nice!

What you will need

  • Indian Summer charm pack
  • remnants for borders

The thing about making something, is that you are the only one who can see an OOPS. I do not see anything wrong with your quilt. I love the quilting on top, did u do that as well? The whole quilt is put together quite well. so congrats
mattymatty26 answered:
Yes I did, it was my first attempt at free motion (so fun!). thank you :)

Your backing looks fine. You should see what I do to my backings. I put another quilt on the back for backing. I cut out 12 inch blocks and sew them together for backing. I frame a panel and use that as a backing. I sew strips together of scrap fabric and use as a backing. The backing of a quilt can be art work too! Just think of all the possible things a backing can become. Don't limit yourself. Be creative.

That's a good idea. I thought about trying something like that but with only a limited amount of that fabric I didnt want to mess anything up TOO bad lol. Thanks for your comment :)

Your quilt looks fantastic. Embrase the adventure, nothing is wrong. I am impressed with your free motion quilting - I can't get my hands, machine and foot working in unison, try as I may it just doesn't seem to flow. Welcome to a world of shapes and colour :)
