Memory Quilts from Father's clothing

What was your source for this quilting project? Improvisational What are you most proud of? I love the way the shirt details added so much texture and novelty to the quilt. She was floored that I was able to use every shirt she sent me. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Plan. Plan. Plan. I used EQ5 to plan this project. When cutting out the pieces for each block, I began with the blocks that needed the largest pieces and worked my way to the smaller pieces. I pieced all of the same block before I moved on to the next block. I waned to make sure I had enough fabric. I planned all 3 quilts so I would know how many blocks I would need for each one. And what size pieces for each block.

You Can Make This

Kathy Shephard made Memory Quilts from Father's clothing with:

  • A relative in IN shipped me her husbands clothing. ( 3 years after he passed). She just didn't know what to do with his shirts . . . . . we talked at a family event and a few months later
  • 3 large boxes arrived containing a lot of plaid shirts
  • polo shirts
