Memorial Baby Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The ironing involved in this project was complicated like a puzzle, but worth the trouble. Also, this is my very first quilt! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Purchase a cutting mat. I cut everything for this project on a kitchen cutting board with a rotary cutter, though that worked fine, it was stressful. UPDATE: I have since purchased a large cutting mat!

What you will need

  • Cotton patterned fabric

Q&A with Annie Loo

sistertammie asked:
Oh wow, a cutting board? I say invest whenever you can in the tools you need. The mats are awesome. I am inspired by your quilt. I was wanting to make a quilt for a neice and wanted just the right pattern, have been hesitating to make it. I think yours looks lovely and an easy pattern. Did you have any problems with this pattern?
Annie Loo answered:
In the block of the month class where they describe how to cut half square triangles quickly I found that I should have used a 6 inch square instead of the recommended 5.5 inch square. I was supposed to be able to cut diagonally and get four 3.5 inch squares, but I found by the end that I had at least 40 of 168 total squares that were more than a quarter inch off. If I had just had bigger squares to start off with my cutting wouldn't have been so long and tedious. I made the doll quilt from the reject squares to teach myself how to do each step before committing to it in the bigger quilt.
