Martinique Diamonds

What are you most proud of? This was the first project I've done that has eight points meeting. Most of mine match. I have since learned how to square up a half square (or in this case half rectangle). Since the quilt was just for me, it doesn't bother me. It shows me how much I've learned! It was hard to decide how to quilt it since I hadn't learned free motion yet. I like the diamond crosshatch and I love the variegated thread. What advice would you give someone starting this project? "Square up" your your half-rectangles; plan out how you press the seams so that after joining the 4 rectangles, you can press the seams clockwise to avoid bulk and unfurl the center.

You Can Make This

Bonnie Wilson made Martinique Diamonds with:

  • Martinique by 3 Sisters Layer Cake; Martinique yardage; 100% cotton batting; YLI machine quilting thread - variegated pastel
