March BOM #2

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Learning a second method of Foundation Piecing. I wasn't terribly keen on the rather blank star in the middle and, in any case, my join wasn't exactly perfect, so after I'd done the April blocks (English Paper Piecing) I made a little paper pieced flower and put it in the middle. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is just as easy as the other foundation piecing project for March, but doesn't result in as much bulk. Go for it!

What you will need

  • Cotton scraps and leftover fabric.

Q&A with patz in suffolk

Pam NZ asked:
Love what you've done by adding hexies to this one... very clever and just beautiful! Oooooh MY fav fabrics too!
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you! You may recognise the fabric from Jacqueline's Quillow. I actually bought the "Pure Velvet" fabric to make a quilt which is currently waiting for me (or possibly a long-arm quilter, if I'm feeling lazy) to put it together. Why on earth do I buy so much fabric? There's still going to be some left!
Betty Keith asked:
That is so beautiful
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you.
CarftyLassy asked:
Beautiful, great fabric choices.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - it's a bit wonky underneath the hexi flower though!
NanaJeanFL asked:
Love your hexis in the middle. Really sets off this block.
patz in suffolk answered:
They're hiding a multitude of sins!
desna asked:
Ooh this is so good too and love the little hexi addition, so creative. I have had fun looking at each of your block all in one go... thanks Pat:)
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you, Desna - it's surprising what I can conjure up to cover mistakes!
