Love In a Mist 2

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Love in a Mist Link to website or photo www.quilterscache.com/L/LoveinaMistBlock.html What are you most proud of? Most of the materials that I choose for the quilt backing are darker... fairly solid with like a shadow print in them. Then Diane... my quilter... uses a contrasting thread so the back of the quilt is just as stunning as the front... this makes a nice problem for the owner of the quilt... what side to you put up on the bed??? Reversable quilts :-) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Remember that a quilt top is stunning by itself... but when you add the quilting element finished product is much more than the sum of the two parts... work on a quilting design that adds to the total design!

What you will need

Q&A with Sew pieceful

This is beautiful!
Sew pieceful answered:
Thanks! I am glad you enjoy it! It is going in a pile of bedsized quilts that are in waiting for my children and nieces and nephews to be able to choose from when they get hitched :-)
MarjorieV asked:
Very impressive -- I see points on each of those stars! WOW! Good job
Sew pieceful answered:
Thanks! this one has been cut out and in my UFO pile for a while because I squared all the half triangle block to make them fit perfectly... I got tired of squaring the blocks so it sat for a long time. I think it took me a couple years of pulling it out and working on it for short periods until I got it done. I enlarged the star blocks so it seemed like I was doing the math each time I pulled it out :-S Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it!

By any chance is this also known as the "Swoon" pattern/quilt. There's a lot of them on Facebook or Pinterest or something. One of our BOM gals has a beauty, if you missed it. Check out Applekrisp (I think that is the member) on this site. If I am wrong, let me know and I will research for you. Anyway, you did a magnificent job. Stars are my favorite. I loved the August class.
Sew pieceful answered:
The swoon I believe is a little different outside star... that pattern uses 8 petals with smaller diamonds inbetween them. Also the center star of swoon has a background octogon frame around it before the outer star starts. But you are right, they are pretty close. I love the pay on colors that you can get with the swoon almost more like a flower than a star.
