Lonestar Block

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am left handed so everything I did was backwards or upsidedown. I wanted to try the techniques before breaking into a brand new jelly roll. I tried really hard to get the points to come together correctly. The quilting was all done on my sewing machine. I've never attempted this kind of quilting using decorative stitches before. What advice would you give someone starting this project? It takes a lot of time and patience for this project. Watched the video over and over as I was working through.

What you will need

  • Cotton fabric
  • 50wt thread for piecing. 40wt thread for quilting

Very nice! I usually have a difficult time with lone stars that are made with diamonds.....but I think I'll take this course to see if it can be a little easier for me....gonna give it a shot
Arlene C answered:
Thank you. Do yourself a favor and sign up for this class. Kimberly is great at sharing tips to make something so difficult looking much less frustrating to make.
desna asked:
You did a great job, and the points are super:)
Arlene C answered:
Thank you. The class is great for showing how to make those points line up.
Caroline asked:
Very nice job! Did you do the machine quilting too? Loveit! :)
Arlene C answered:
Thank you. Yes, I did the machine quilting. I wanted to try Kimberly's freezer paper method and I used the serpentine stitch on my sewing machine as well as straight stitching.
