Little Christmas Tree Wall Hangings

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Fun with Christmas Trees by Sue Schofield Link to website or photo springwoodhousedesigns.co,uk What are you most proud of? I was happy with the way they made up quickly and gave me a great sense of satisfaction. It was a bit difficult to get them to hang evenly, but with a bit of twisting and pulling, they eventually looked okay. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Let your imagination run riot - trees, candles, presents, bells - anything you fancy!

What you will need

  • Gold and metallic fabrics
  • cotton fabrics
  • gold and cotton threads
  • very thin polyester wadding (batting)

Q&A with patz in suffolk

Tanya W. asked:
Very nice!
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you.
MirkaMas asked:
That is a neat idea! Will keep it in mind for christmas! =)
patz in suffolk answered:
Did you get around to making any? (Sorry, I didn't see your post before!)
Za Manaf asked:
Hi Pat..i get what u meant...yes it makes sense..i will try this in my later projects. Thanks for showing me :)
patz in suffolk answered:
The ones that I made for other people just had one piece of ribbon at the top so that they could be hung on a hook or with a drawing pin (you might call it a thumb tack - I know they do in the USA). The "What a Hoot" picture on my projects page does, more or less, show what I mean. These little wall hangings are actually suspended from a proper quilt hanger that I bought off the internet. Good luck with yours. Patricia
Za Manaf asked:
yes i had a look at "What A Hoot" too. I didnt know what to do when my first wall hanging was completed and hanged it on a clothes hanger until another crafter suggested i should hang it properly. i now know how to make a housing (i think thats what they call it) but still unsure how to hang it with ribbon as u did...well...i m learning new things all the time..thanks :)
patz in suffolk answered:
Well done, ZaZa - we call them "hanging sleeves" and at the quilting store where I learnt my quilting they recommend that you put one on all your quilts, however big they are, so that they can be exhibited at shows.
marianna2011 asked:
Hello there Pat - I love these little guys - where I am staying they have a little craft store for the retired folk to purchase little christmas items. Might just have to sew some up and take them over to sell. The places we stay in while in the heat of the USA are pretty small - so there is not a wall space. They'd also make nice gifts.
patz in suffolk answered:
Yes - you're right - they'd make nice little things to sell in that shop and they're quick and easy to make. I've also some pictures of others that I've made to give as Christmas cards that the recipient can keep from year to year as a decoration. Patricia
