Leaves In Progress

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Learning how to create lighter colors on darker fabric. I had to get creative with mixing silk dye, clear glue and mica powders. Gives the leaf a subtle coloration and a lot of shimmer. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't be afraid to make mistakes... some of my most complimented work has been from figuring out how to fix something I messed up!

What you will need

  • Radiance fabric (silk/cotton blend)
  • silk threads
  • cotton batting and backing. Derwent inktense pencils
  • silk dye
  • clear glue
  • mica powders
  • metallic stamp ink.

Super cool. Love the simplicity and yet complexity at the same time.
Quiltinjeni answered:
Thank you! That is exactly the kind of quilting I like best... (My piecing skills are adequate, but I won't win any serious competition with them!)
cce asked:
I love your stitching!
Quiltinjeni answered:
Thank you for the compliment! :)
BrightIdeas asked:
Beautiful! Looks time-consuming, but definitely worth the effort...I think you're onto something potentially viral and addictive (in a good way, of course!)
Quiltinjeni answered:
Thank you! I really like small projects, so I can afford to spend a little more time practicing my free-motion quilting. :)
