Q&A with Barb Willis

RAESTA asked:
I love that you sashed your blocks. It makes it make sense to me. I did not "get" this quilt.
Barb Willis answered:
Thanks I had ordered the backing for the guilt, I knew it would match so I used that for the sashing. I wanted to make a king sized quilt so I needed another backing anyway. Between the two of them there was enough for both the sashing and backing.
ltelan asked:
I like your quilt better than theirs! The little bit of sashing quiets the overall composition wonderfully whilst keeping it visually extremely interesting. Very well done!
Barb Willis answered:
Thanks I was trying to come up with a way to make it big enough for the guest bedroom that is king sized. I loved working with all the bright colors.
Polarjo asked:
Check out Ann Petersen's Craftsy class Quilting Big Projects on a Small Machine. She will give you lots of ideas on how to go about quilting a king size quilt on a domestic machine. Love your quilt by the way.
Barb Willis answered:
Thanks for the tip l'll give it a try.
Gaillaustx asked:
I like they way you laid out the squares, gives it a more classic quilt feel.
Barb Willis answered:
Thanks, I like that all the blocks were either 6 or 12 in., it made it easier to fit them together.
JBlixt asked:
Wow, this is fantastic. Love your vision to see a different layout!!
Barb Willis answered:
Thanks, my husband decided we needed to put it on our bed, he calls it a 3 alarm quilt because it's so bright.
