Aside from my granddaughter.... the Mariner's star What advice would you give someone starting this project? use oriental inspired fabrics for the kimonos. I love paper piecing because it is so precise. I often enlarge patterns from my extensive quilting library. They are striking in the center of a quilt.

What you will need

  • cotton fabric for the quilt and paint for the Kanji (Japanese writing) with the English meanings embroidered under each one
