InuYasha Quilt

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Shoji Screen Link to website or photo www.amazon.com/Shoji-Screen-Pattern/dp/B001R4Z9BI/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1330642152&sr=8-2-fkmr0 What are you most proud of? This is a t-shirt quilt that doesn't look like a t-shirt quilt...which is exactly what I was hoping for! I was able to incorporate several of her favorite t-shirts as well as some embroidery and applique to make it a truly unique quilt just for her. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Shoji Screen is a super easy to make project. Set aside some time for pre-cutting all the pieces and then you can just sew, sew, sew! The top goes together very easily.

What you will need

  • fabric and t-shirts

Q&A with sewhookedjen

wpbmommy1 asked:
omgoodness this is wonderful! My daughter also loves manga and anime and she loves this also. She loves Sailor Moon the most but it is hard to find fabric. I was thinking of finding her favorite pics online and then actually printing them onto some fabric using freezer sheets, possibly making them appliques. Can you give me some tips on making the picture pop? Do you think quilting the outline or adding more stuffing behind the applique? I had never seen the Shoji Screen on a quilt before today. I love it! You are such a great mom!
sewhookedjen answered:
Thanks! I did quilt around all the images to make them stand out. Printing some of your daughter's favorite pictures to add to a quilt is a great idea! I stenciled one of the panels for my daughter's quilt and hand embroidered another. The rest of the InuYasha parts are all t-shirts that she sacrificed for the cause!
